A new piece of MCU Fantastic Four of John Krasinski and Emily Blunt are still rooting for them to star in Matt Shakman’s Fantastic Four.

A brand new piece of Fantastic Four artwork demonstrates that John Krasinski and Emily Blunt are still the top actors in the MCU to play Reed Richards and Sue Storm.
Following the unexpected departure of original director Jon Watts, Marvel Studios has finally announced his replacement, WandaVision director Matt Shakman, at the D23 Expo. After years of anticipation, the film is finally gaining traction, with a 2024 release date announced at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.
While Kevin Feige confirmed Shakman’s hiring, he did not reveal any other details about the project. As it turns out, Marvel Studios hasn’t made any Fantastic Four casting decisions because they want the director’s input.
However, several actors have been rumored for the part since the project was officially announced. Among all of this, many are hoping for real-life couple Krasinski and Blunt to play Fantastic Four’s Reed Richards and Sue Storm, as seen in this latest mock poster for the upcoming film.
A Fantastic Four concept one-sheet, courtesy of digital artist spdrmnkyxxiii, depicts Krasinski as Mister Fantastic, with Blunt as Invisible Woman. Meanwhile, Dacre Montgomery and Terry Crews, who plays Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm, round out Marvel’s First Family.

The illustrator wrote in the caption that despite Krasinski’s limited screentime in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, he liked what he saw. The majority of the comment section, on the other hand, backs him up in his casting choices. Take a look at the artwork below:
Several actors have been rumored to be on Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four shortlist in recent months. Recently, there has been much speculation that You’s Penn Badgley is the leading candidate to play Reed Richards. Meanwhile, Jodie Comer is said to be interested in Sue Storm.
Marvel Studios has remained silent on the subject, only announcing Fantastic Four’s November 2024 release date and Shakman’s appointment as director.
Regardless, it’s safe to say that Feige and his team have a good idea of who they want to lead such a high-profile project, especially after deciding on a release date.
In any case, since Krasinski was in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it should be relatively easy to negotiate terms for a longer contract to play Mister Fantastic, assuming they haven’t already.
Given Fox’s previous failures to launch a Fantastic Four franchise, there’s understandably a lot of pressure on Marvel Studios to get it right the first time. While fans have repeatedly stated that Krasinski and Blunt are their top choices to lead the new team, the general public should not become too attached to the idea.
Several factors could still lead to the MCU casting other actors for the roles of Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman. In any case, because casting has always been a strength for Marvel Studios, it’s best to wait for an official announcement and trust that whoever they select is ultimately the best candidate for the role.
