Harry Potter Was Recast by AI: Can WB Perform a Better Job?

We employed an AI to cast all of the key parts in anticipation of the rumored Harry Potter Was Recast, and the results are startling (but not really).

While Warner Bros. Discovery is apparently interested in producing a Harry Potter revival TV program, artificial intelligence recasts all of the important roles.

The first Harry Potter film, based on J.K. Rowling’s popular novels, was released in 2001, introducing viewers to Daniel Radcliffe’s Harry, Rupert Grint’s Ron, and Emma Watson’s Hermione.

The foursome would return for seven blockbuster sequels until saying their last goodbyes in 2011. Yet, if recent speculations are to be accepted, the plot of the novels might be adapted into a TV program.

We used artificial intelligence to recast all of the important characters in the Harry Potter TV program, and the results reveal that Warner Bros. Discovery faces a significant job in gathering a stellar ensemble.

While some of the AI’s picks are unexpected, they also make a lot of sense given how well-known and famous several of these actors are. Have a look at the AI’s recasting options below:

  • Asa Butterfield or Tom Holland as Harry Potter
  • Finn Wolfhard or Jacob Elordi as Ron Weasley
  • Saoirse Ronan or Millie Bobby Brown as Hermione Granger
  • Ian McKellen or Patrick Stewart as Albus Dumbledore
  • Ralph Fiennes or Tom Hiddleston as Severus Snape
  • Mads Mikkelsen or Benedict Cumberbatch as Lord Voldemort

Will These Artificial Intelligence Harry Potter Cast Proposals Work?

Harry Potter Was Recast

Because of their prior connection with the brand, both Mikkelsen and Fiennes are likely off the table for any type of Harry Potter remake program at this moment, but all of the other selections might theoretically materialize.

Given that the program would supposedly adopt one of the seven novels each season, several of these performers are likely too old. For example, both Holland and Butterfield are 26 years old and appear to be considered too old to portray Harry, who is just 11 in the first novel.

Given the legendary status of Radcliffe, Grint, and Watson as Harry, Ron, and Hermione, any Harry Potter revival program would be best served by hiring relatively unknown actors as the key three characters.

Apart from these three, the AI tool makes some ideas for numerous additional significant positions. Both McKellan and Stewart would make intriguing new Dumbledores, casting choices that appear to capture the spirit of Rowling’s novels’ headmaster.

Hiddleston has shown himself as a versatile actor capable of playing both heroes and villains, making him a great candidate for Snape. Cumberbatch, likewise, possesses the theatrical abilities to provide a fresh perspective on Voldemort.

However, it should be noted that the AI does not provide a particularly broad pool of performers for any of the primary characters, underlining an issue that the movies also suffer from.

It’s unclear who will feature in the Harry Potter series if it happens, but Warner Bros. Discovery clearly has a massive work ahead of it.
