Harry Potter audiobooks – Untold stories

You’ll be astonished to learn that Harry Potter is a form of literary work that has been rejected by publishers on its way to readers. Twelve publishers, including major labels such as Penguin and Harper Collins, did not approve the first episode of Harry Potter. The first Harry Potter book series was only accepted by Bloomsbury, a modest English publisher, but thankfully, owing to the publisher’s 8-year-old daughter reading the first few chapters of the manuscript.

J.K. Rowling was given the first publishing contract with a print volume of little more than 1,000 copies, along with advice from editor Barry Cunnighamm: “You should obtain a steady employment since there are very few prospects to make a livelihood by producing books for children.”

Harry Potter audiobooks – Structure and classification

The Hogwarts magic school, a boarding school in He was for wizards, where magic was taught, can be considered a Bildungsroman, a novel for education, as the tale centers around Hogwarts magic school, a boarding school in He was for wizards, where magic was taught. The series is comparable to Tom Hughes’ Tom Brown’s School Days and a number of other novels about life at a British elite boarding school written during the reigns of Queen Victoria I and King Edward VII.

These audiobooks have been likened to Ursula K. Le Guin’s A Wizard of Earthsea, C. S. Lewis’s The Chronicles of Narnia (Annals of Narnia), and a number of other works. They are a distinct genre of English writing about boarding school life, and depictions of Harry’s aunt and uncle’s family evoke memories of Roald Dahl’s books for many readers. Furthermore, J. R. R. Tolkien’s classic fantasy series The Lord of the Rings has been linked to Harry Potter’s storylines.

Structure and classification

Stephen King previously described the series as a “strange and deep miraculous narrative,” and each volume was written in the vein of enigmatic adventures a la Sherlock Holmes. The stories all leave clues concealed in the narrative, in which the characters follow various suspicions through numerous curiously beautiful settings, leading to an unexpected finale that frequently flips upside down. The characters continue to believe it.

With a few exceptions, the tale is narrated from the perspective of a third person:

  • The Philosopher’s Stone Audiobook’s Chapter 1: The first half is written from Vernon Dursley’s, his uncle Harry’s, point of view, while the second half is written objectively.
  • Chapter 1 of The Goblet of Fire Audiobook: With the exception of the opening scene, this chapter is told from the perspective of a supporting character, Frank Bryce, although all of the events are witnessed by Harry in a dream.
  • In the first two chapters of the audiobook Half-Blood Prince: Harry is unable to observe these occurrences.

Listeners, like Harry, can discover the story’s mysteries. Other characters’ thoughts and calculations, even crucial ones like Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, were kept concealed until Harry was revealed.

The audiobook series adheres to a structure. In terms of Harry’s years of education, they frequently begin at his home with the Dursley family in the Muggle world. After that, Harry spent some time before school at the magical addresses (such as Diagon Alley, the Soc Hang Farm, and No. 12 Grimmauld Square) by riding the school’s train at Terminal 934. As soon as Harry arrived at school, new and familiar characters appeared one after the other, and Harry had to go through the daily routine, which included essays, terrifying chases, and severe professors.

The plot builds to a climax at or just after the end-of-year exams when Harry confronts Voldemort or one of the Death Eaters. Usually, the dispute with the headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, results in Harry learning valuable lessons.

  1. It’s crazy your blog post came while I was actually searching for audiobooks on Amazon! This is great. I’ve actually watched all of the Harry Potter series. It’s nice that they offer an Audibook version for those who have a hard time reading. I personally would rather watch the movie on video, but this is great too!

  2. I never knew how immersive the world of Harry Potter is until I saw how my daughter spent hours upon hours reading through the books over and over again.

By the way, she only saw the movies after having spent the time reading through all the books.

Even when we went to Universal Studios Hollywood, she really loved how well themed the Harry Potter part of the park was, which really brought to reality what the books planted in her imagination as she was reading them.

For someone like me who has neither read the books nor seen the movies, I wondered if there was a way for me to experience what my daughter experienced without the time investment in reading through all those books or watching all those movies.

So I’m intrigued by the audio books possibility where I might be able to passively get fed the information maybe while I’m commuting or something.

Thanks for this post that at least lets me know that I have this option and what I’d be in for.

  3. I find it amazing how Harry Potter took off and how much money the writer made. Even though it is a children’s story many adults also enjoy Harry Potter.
