Since Gryffindor is the house of the brave. In this article, you will learn about some of the most famous Gryffindor characters.

Gryffindors are valiant, brave, and adventurous. This house has produced some of history’s greatest witches and wizards.
Many of them have had to make difficult sacrifices for individuals they care about, and this has shaped who they are.
Gryffindor is widely considered Hogwarts’ top house and is home to the majority of the book’s most respected and upstanding characters.
While Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin pupils were frequently mentioned in the book, the Gryffindors and their unwavering bravery took center stage.
Because of Harry Potter and the Potter family’s link to Gryffindor House, Gryffindors frequently led the effort to defend Harry Potter.
Harry, Hermione, and Ron were surrounded by Gryffindor friends who were always prepared to come to Harry’s aid.
Many of Harry’s most ferocious guardians from the Order of the Phoenix and Dumbledore’s Army were also members of the House of the Brave.
However, Harry had a few significant opponents from his own home who made his life difficult with both little and major issues.
However, not all Gryffindor pupils performed equally well. A few Gryffindor pupils were regarded as some of the most powerful witches and wizards in history. while others were virtually worthless in genuine combat. Which Gryffindors were the most terrifying when it came to battle?
Here are The Most Powerful Most Famous Gryffindor Characters, Officially Ranked.
26. Colin Creevey

Colin Creevey did not deserve what happened to him, and he was never given the opportunity to acquire the mystical powers that his classmates did.
Colin did serve in Dumbledore’s Army and learned some of Harry’s defensive spells. Colin, on the other hand, was troubled by his unending bad luck.
He was terrified by the Basilisk in his first year and was pulled out of service for most of the year. He sneaked back to Hogwarts to take part in the Battle of Hogwarts. But he was killed.
He possessed all of the Gryffindor boldness but lacked the magical talent to match his passion.
25. Lavender Brown

Though she is mostly remembered as Ron’s annoying girlfriend. Lavender Brown was a talented student of various magical topics.
She joined Dumbledore’s Army and trained defensive magic like Harry’s other comrades.
Lavender was equally as accomplished as most of her Gryffindor classmates, yet she is underappreciated for her advanced abilities.
Her magical powers, however, could not help her during the Battle of Hogwarts. Despite Hermione’s best efforts to save her, she was attacked by Fenrir Greyback and died.
24. Cormac McLaggen

Cormac McLaggen was mostly a minor enemy for Harry, Ron, and Hermione. He lingered to annoy the three of them in any manner imaginable, from incessantly boasting about his Quidditch ability to exposing Hermione to unwanted approaches.
He was a decent Quidditch player, almost winning Ron’s position on the team.
But he also repeated a year at Hogwarts, implying that he was not very skilled in his study of magic. Despite these flaws.
He battled Death Eaters in the Battle of Hogwarts and survived, demonstrating that he was at least a skilled duelist.
23. Nearly Headless Nick

Almost Headless Nick has been a constant presence in Gryffindor since his unfortunate death years before the events of Harry Potter. He had the ability to choose to become a ghost.
Although it’s unclear whether this was due to any magical power.
He possessed a few unusual ghostly abilities, such as the ability to pass through objects, and he was frequently a vital source of knowledge.
However, his execution casts doubt on his magical skill. According to J.K. Rowling, he attempted to straighten a noblewoman’s teeth and mistakenly led her to develop a tusk.
The transgression led to his death, and the episode did not establish him as a strong magician.
22. Percy Weasley

Percy didn’t have many chances to show off the wizardry he’d learned. He was frequently demoted to administrative posts that demanded little magic from him.
He was expected to be an advanced student at Hogwarts, earning him titles like Head Boy.
He then found work in the Ministry of Magic, where he was likely up against other competent wizards and witches for the post. Only at the Battle of Hogwarts is Percy depicted in action.
He defeated Minister for Magic Pius Thicknesse in a fight and transformed him into a sea urchin, indicating that he possessed the advanced magical talent of human transfiguration.
21. Charlie Weasley

Charlie Weasley is rarely seen with the Weasley family because he was away researching dragons in Romania for most of the book’s events.
According to family members and Hogwarts instructors, Charlie was a great student and Quidditch player. He was so good at caring for magical animals that Hagrid applauded him.
When he was ultimately unveiled, he regularly used experienced magic to deal with fearsome dragons.
His ability to control a dragon is amazing enough, but based on his role in the Battle of Hogwarts, he was probably likely a good duelist.
20. Parvati Patil

Parvati Patil proved herself as one of Harry’s best students, particularly during her engagement in Dumbledore’s Army.
She was consistently ranked among the top students in all of her classes, including Transfiguration and Divination.
She also has the ability to conjure strong Defense Against the Dark Arts spells. She cast a Reductor Curse so strong that it turned a table to rubble at one of Dumbledore’s Army meetings.
During the Battle of Hogwarts, Parvati and Dean Thomas fought alongside each other and beat expert Death Eaters who had tragically dueled with sophisticated adult wizards like Antonin Dolohov.
19. Dean Thomas

Dean Thomas is one of Harry Potter’s most underrated allies. Dean was one of Harry’s most devoted supporters at Hogwarts, and he jumped at the chance to join Dumbledore’s Army.
His studies at Hogwarts were halted when he had to flee during Voldemort’s reign of terror.
Nonetheless, he eluded the Snatchers for a long time, eventually being apprehended about the time Harry was transported to Malfoy Manor.
Dean revealed himself to be a vital ally once more during the Battle of Hogwarts when he battled multiple Death Eaters with Parvati Patil.
18. Seamus Finnegan

Although Seamus Finnegan was prone to mishaps during his initial years at Hogwarts, he was finally able to use his ability to make things explode to his advantage.
When McGonagall wanted the Hogwarts bridge blown up to prevent the Snatchers’ assault, she turned to Seamus and his knowledge of pyrotechnics.
He was also a member of Dumbledore’s Army, and he even cast a corporeal Patronus both in meetings and subsequently in battle.
Seamus was also regarded as a skilled duelist, owing to his performance during the Battle of Hogwarts.
17. Neville Longbottom

Neville Longbottom may be the wizard with the finest comeback story. Bellatrix Lestrange and other Death Eaters tormented his parents while he was a baby.
Neville and Harry were the babies mentioned in Professor Sybill Trelawney’s prophesy. As a result, Voldemort went after the Potters, while Bellatrix went after the Longbottoms.
The remainder of Neville’s parents’ days were spent at St. Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries. Unfortunately, they did not recognize Neville, who was nurtured by his strict grandmother.
His grandmother regularly warned him that he was not good enough and that he did not live up to his parent’s legacy. His grandmother’s comments almost certainly contributed to his insecurity and shyness.
This was proven false since Neville was the one who stood up to Voldemort when everyone thought Harry was dead and wanted to give up.
He also killed Voldemort’s snake, Nagini, the ultimate Horcrux, allowing Harry to destroy Voldemort.
Neville became an Auror and later returned to Hogwarts as a Herbology professor.
He married Hannah Abbott, a Hufflepuff House student who attended Hogwarts with him.
16. Ginny Weasley

Ginny was the youngest of the Weasleys, yet she was far from the weakest of her Gryffindor peers.
Her curses and charms were frequently so effective that they drew the attention of the professors, even the famously difficult-to-please Horace Slughorn.
During the Battle of the Department of Mysteries and the Battle of the Astronomy Tower.
She held her own. She did admirably at the Battle of Hogwarts. Even dodging Bellatrix Lestrange’s spells. Ginny had a natural gift for magic and blossomed into a formidable power as she got older.
15. Ron Weasley

The youngest of the seven Weasley children is Ron Weasley.
The Weasleys were a pureblood family that disagreed with the concept of “blood purity.” Because of this, the other pure-blood families shunned them.
Some may believe he was under Harry and Hermione’s shadow, yet he was an important component of the trio. Ron develops and encounters numerous concerns as time passes.
He is a buddy who is encouraging, devoted, and supportive. This is shown in his decision to accompany Harry and Hermione to discover and destroy the Horcruxes rather than return to Hogwarts.
Ron also had a rat named Scabbers, whom he adored.
He didn’t realize his rat’s true name was Peter Pettigrew until much later. After betraying the Potters, killing twelve muggles, and framing Sirius Black, Peter went into hiding.
Ron was an essential element of Harry’s trio, although his most useful contributions were not magical. Ron’s understanding of the magical world, along with his unwavering dedication to his companions, made him the ideal friend and ally for Harry. Though he sometimes lagged behind his peers in magical endeavors, he did have a few notable achievements.
Tonks mentioned his ability to stun a Death Eater in mid-flight during the Battle of the Seven Potters. He also disarmed Voldemort’s strong right hand, Bellatrix Lestrange. Ron and Neville defeated Fenrir Greyback during the Battle of Hogwarts. He wasn’t the most proficient magician, but he came through when it mattered.
14. Bill Weasley

Bill Weasley, the eldest of the Weasley children, was already a skilled magician when he arrived on the scene. He worked as a Curse Breaker for Gringotts Bank.
A job that would have needed a wide range of magical abilities.
When Voldemort returned, Bill Weasley became one of the Orders of the Phoenix’s few new members.
He rushed into action to defend Harry Potter and fight Voldemort whenever the opportunity arose, turning up for every battle with the Order and taking on the mantle of the old Order as Voldemort took down the original members.
13. Fred And George Weasley

Despite the fact that Fred and George Weasley were never academically inclined, there’s no doubt that they both possessed magical abilities well beyond what they made everyone believe.
Despite the difficulty they created, their pranks were frequently so complex that they amazed the Hogwarts teachers.
They were continuously creating innovative items, and even Hermione couldn’t figure out how they did it. They not only learned but also created spells for their company.
They were both outstanding duelists who defeated numerous Death Eaters in the Battle of Hogwarts, despite the fact that the combat ultimately claimed Fred’s life.
With the assistance of Lee Jordan, George went on to overcome Yaxley.
12. Arthur And Molly Weasley

Arthur and Molly Weasley seemed to perform impressive feats regularly without drawing any attention to them. Arthur charmed muggle objects like his flying car with apparent ease.
His work at the Ministry often required adept practice of magic such as memory charms.
Arthur and Molly both joined the Order of the Phoenix and utilized their magical skills to communicate within the Order and protect Harry in several battles.
Molly did not often get a chance to show her prowess with magic. When she did join the action, she single-handedly defeated Bellatrix Lestrange, possibly the most dangerous villain besides Voldemort himself.
11. Peter Pettigrew

Peter Pettigrew was a cowardly traitor, yet he had enough power to become one of Voldemort’s most useful henchmen.
Pettigrew perfected the change into an Animagus in his early years.
He was able to remain turned into a rat for nearly a decade when he fled into hiding. His change also enabled him to converse with actual rats, which led him to Voldemort. As one of Voldemort’s minions.
He was responsible for a number of important duties, such as preparing potions for his regeneration, capturing other wizards and witches, and sacrificing his own hand to complete Voldemort’s return.
10. James Potter

Despite the fact that James did not live a long life, he was able to do a number of astounding magical feats at an early age.
He like his buddies was capable of transforming into an Animagus, a difficult and dangerous procedure.
He was also one of the architects of the Marauder’s Map. The map was intricate enough to monitor persons using invisibility cloaks and show the actual identities of those drinking Polyjuice.
To make it, James and the other Marauders must have been exceptionally skilled with magic. As a founding member of the Order of the Phoenix.
James was most likely a skilled duelist who specialized in defensive magic.
9. Sirius Black

Sirius Black fiercely opposed his pureblood family’s antipathy for muggles. As a result, his family disliked him, and he discovered his actual family in James and Lily Potter.
While at Hogwarts, his friends included James Potter, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew. They were known as the Marauders.
When they discovered Remus was a werewolf, they all became Animagi (which was against the rules) to assist him when he transformed.
As a result, Sirius could transform into a large, black dog, earning him the nickname Padfoot.
Sirius is arguably most known for being falsely accused of murdering the Potters and 12 muggles. However, it was Peter Pettigrew who informed Voldemort of the Potters’ position.
Sirius was imprisoned in Azkaban for 12 years before escaping as Padfoot. He re-joined the Order of the Phoenix in order to battle Voldemort.
Unfortunately, Bellatrix Lestrange, a Death Eater, assassinated him during the Battle of the Department of Mysteries.
8. Lily Evans Potter: Famous Gryffindor Characters

We will forever remember Lily Potter as the most selfless witch. She gave her life to save Harry from Lord Voldemort.
However, her most amazing demonstration of power was her protection of Harry for years after her own death. By sacrificing herself.
She saved Harry from Voldemort’s curse and provided him with a protective barrier against Voldemort for the duration of his time at Hogwarts.
Though her protection was unintentional, it was possibly the most important act of magic in the series.
Severus Snape’s longtime love interest was Lily. Severus’ love for her was so strong that he switched sides and pledged to protect Harry if Voldemort murdered her.
When they were kids, Lily and Snape were great friends, but their friendship was ruined when Snape dubbed her a “filthy mud-blood.”
He did this in reaction to James Potter’s bullying, despite Lily’s efforts to stop James.
7. Hermione Granger: Famous Gryffindor Characters

Hermione Granger, known as one of the most educated and skilled witches, was almost sorted into Ravenclaw.
The Sorting Hat deliberated about four minutes before assigning her to Gryffindor.
Hermione was a muggle-born witch, which makes her abilities all the more amazing.
She didn’t have any parents who were familiar with magic to educate her when she was younger, so she studied it before enrolling at Hogwarts.
Harry and Ron were first wary of her, believing she was an obnoxious know-it-all. However, the three of them eventually became great friends.
Dumbledore’s Army was one of Hermione’s numerous successes.
Without her, the students would not have mastered the abilities needed to confront Voldemort and his Death Eaters when they attempted to take over Hogwarts.
She also utilized her time-turner to take extra lessons and prevent Buckbeak and Sirius Black from being executed.
Hermione married Ron Weasley as a grownup, and she later became the Minister for Magic. She also fought for improved house-elf treatment.
She also concentrated on enacting legislation to help muggle-born people like herself.
6. Rubeus Hagrid: Famous Gryffindor Characters

Rubeus Hagrid, the cherished companion, and mentor were half-giant and half-wizard. He grew to reach 11 and a half feet tall.
In his third year at Hogwarts, Tom Riddle (Voldemort) framed Hagrid for the opening of the Chamber of Secrets.
Tom also claimed that Hagrid’s pet spider was the creature who attacked and killed one of the muggle-born students.
Fortunately, Dumbledore did not accept Tom’s claim and permitted Hagrid to dwell on the Hogwarts grounds as the gamekeeper.
The Ministry of Magic smashed Hagrid’s wand, preventing him from practicing magic. However, Hagrid used his umbrella to get past this.
Dumbledore charged Hagrid with keeping an eye on Harry and ultimately acquainting him with the wizarding world.
Hagrid took his job seriously and was always looking out for Harry. Later, he became a professor of Magical Creatures and joined the Order of the Phoenix.
5. Remus Lupin: Famous Gryffindor Characters

Remus Lupin was possibly the finest teacher Harry had had, and his aptitude as a teacher stemmed in part from his own expertise and prowess in magic.
He was hired because of his exceptional knowledge of Defense Against the Dark Arts, and he taught Harry the exceedingly complex Patronus Charm.
Before he ever left Hogwarts, he was one of the masterminds behind the Marauder’s Map.
He was extremely powerful and swift as a werewolf when changed, but he couldn’t control his actions in that state.
He was able to hold his own in battle against Death Eaters as formidable as Lucius Malfoy, and he was only defeated by the extremely deadly Antonin Dolohov.
4. Harry Potter: Famous Gryffindor Characters

Harry Potter, sometimes known as “The Boy Who Lived,” is one of the world’s most renowned wizards.
He is the lone surviving victim of the Killing Curse.
We realize how gifted he is when he can summon a Patronus when he is only a teenager. He also headed Dumbledore’s Army and taught the pupils how to fight the evil arts.
He lost his parents at an early age and never saw them, but he also witnessed the deaths of his godfather and later Severus Snape.
He could see Thestrals, the black skeleton-like horses who drove the Hogwarts carriages since he had seen death with his own eyes.
When Harry found that a piece of Voldemort’s soul had been bonded to him as a newborn, he made the ultimate sacrifice to destroy the Dark Lord.
Dumbledore gave Harry the option of living or dying. Harry decides to live and eventually finally overcomes Voldemort.
He later marries Ginny Weasley and serves as the Head of the Auror office.
3. Minerva McGonagall: Famous Gryffindor Characters

Professor McGonagall is well-known for her unwavering devotion to the people she cares about. She demonstrates this via her love for Dumbledore and her defense of Professor Trelawney when Umbridge attempts to exile her.
Minerva McGonagall had a terrible upbringing. Her mother gave up magic to live with her muggle husband.
Minerva did not receive sufficient magical training when her skills manifested at an early age because her mother desired to keep magic hidden from Minerva’s father.
She was dubbed a “hatstall” at Hogwarts because it took the Sorting Hat more than five minutes to determine whether she was a Gryffindor or a Ravenclaw.
Minerva eventually fell in love with and married a muggle. She, however, refused to follow in her mother’s footsteps and called off the engagement.
Elphinstone Urquart, her employer at the Ministry of Magic, fell in love with her.
He proposed to her several times over the next few years, and she eventually said yes. Unfortunately, he died only three years later.
Professor McGonagall returned to Hogwarts and gave a Transfiguration lesson. She eventually rose to the position of Deputy Headmistress.
Despite not being a member of the Order of the Phoenix, she would spy for them by transforming them into cat. This is also how she kept an eye on Harry as he grew.
2. Albus Dumbledore: Famous Gryffindor Characters

Albus Dumbledore was a wizard who was considered to be one of the best of all time. He was the only wizard who actually frightened Voldemort.
Aberforth and Ariana were Albus’s two younger siblings.
After fighting a bunch of muggle lads who had initially attacked Ariana, his father spent the rest of his life in Azkaban.
Albus had a loving involvement with Gellert Grindelwald when he was still a teenager. Gellert, on the other hand, dabbled freely in the dark arts and influenced Dumbledore’s ideas on blood purity and muggle-borns.
When Aberforth questioned them about it, a battle erupted, and Ariana was killed by a stray spell.
This shame stayed with Albus throughout his time at Hogwarts, and even after he became a professor and Headmaster.
Severus Snape murdered him, although this was premeditated because Albus was already dying as a result of one of Voldemort’s cursed Horcruxes.
1. Godric Gryffindor: Famous Gryffindor Characters

Godric Gryffindor is the most well-known Gryffindor in Harry Potter. While Harry Potter is the most well-known member, Gryffindor House would not exist without Godric.
He is one of the four Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry founders.
He was great friends with Salazar Slytherin until Salazar stated that muggle-born students should not be admitted to Hogwarts.
Godric was the most enthusiastic about admitting muggle-born witches and wizards to the school.
The four founders charmed Godric’s hat in order to sift pupils after they died.
He wished for Gryffindor House pupils to be daring, brave, loyal, and resolute.
It is unknown when or how he died, but his birthplace, Godric’s Hollow, was named for him.
Out of all the Hogwarts houses, Gryffindor must be my favourite. And with all the characters that all seem to kinder than some of the famous characters from the other houses. It is great to find this list of the famous Gryffindor characters. Some of them, like James Potter, I had actually forgotten about, probably because he didn’t live for many years.
Rubeus Hagrid was such a gentle giant, and apart from the famous trio of Harry, Hermione and Ron Weasley, he was my favourite Gryffindor character.
Thank you for your comment Line,

This is one of my favorite movies. I watched all the parts and I’m happy to watch them again, one of my favorite films from my childhood. I mostly know all the characters, but you reminded me well again. Some I couldn’t really remember. My favorites are of course Hermione, Ron and Harry.
Thank you for your opinion Bojana
Gryffindors are known for being courageous, daring, brave, fiercely loyal, intelligent, and kind. They are incredibly selfless and frequently go out of their way to make sacrifices for others.
They are known for facing their ultimate fears in order to do what is right.
But the reason they do it is because they care about you. Although they scare me sometimes with there courage.
It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies.
Thank you very much.
Thank you for your comment friend!!
Hey, hey,
As a fake fan (I didn’t read the books, please don’t hate me) there are quite a few characters I did not remembered, but realized how important they were to the story. I’m also a huge Gryffindor fan and will have to agree that the number one should be the man himself Godric and while shrouded in a bit of mystery there is no denying the good brave heart he had, loved the list, thank you for this.
Thank you for your opinion friend!
I love the HP movies but didn’t read the books (would love to actually do that one day.). But this was so cool to go through and read about the characters I may have forgotten about or honestly just don’t remember seeing.
Thanks for putting this together! :). It was a fun read!
You are welcome, friend. Thank you for your comment friend!!
Hi…Really cool website!
Do you also list upcoming events that may be of interest? Maybe, by state, city and venue (and what will be appearing like any special characters or meet and greets)? In addition, maybe I overlooked it, but do you offer links to sites like Amazon so that themed products can be purchased?
Thank you
yes of cause I hope to list upcoming events about the wizarding world. Thank you for your comment Mike,
Gryffindor House has the most lovely characters in the Harry Potter stories, because they are defenders of the latter and the characters are well acted out and very creative. I mostly just love the Nearly Headless Nick, a character with so much imagination and a really funny addition to the Gryffindor House 😉 Thank you for this explanation
Thank you for your comment friend 🙂
I like Harry potter But I did not at first My husband got me watching it. I never understood it myself . I have all the movies they came out with and now I love it. I would keep thinking they would kill Harry at some point. I never read the books just watched the movies and it is a good series. Keep up the good work/
Thank you for your comment friend!
This was a very interesting visit to all the characters of Harry Potter again, and I had forgotten about some of them, especially the ones who died early on. You have really done your homework as I can’t think of anyone you have left out.
Hermione Granger was the character that I enjoyed the most. Watching her grow up in the series and even marry was really great and it was great that they kept the same character the entire time.
Thank you for your comment friend !
